The first question is: What is EM? EM stands for Effective Micro-organisms.

Effective Microorganisms are a mixed culture of beneficial, naturally-occurring micro-organisms.

Effective Micro-organisms secrete beneficial substances such as vitamins, organic acids, chelated minerals and antioxidants when in contact with organic matter and which act as a probiotic.

EM technology was developed 25 years ago by Dr. Teruo Higa, a professor at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan, as an alternative for agricultural chemicals.

Today EM development has broadened to include Sustainable agriculture, Animal husbandry, Aquaculture, Recycling kitchen waste, Waste management, Water treatment, Household usage and Health promoting products.

EM is produced in over 50 countries worldwide and used in over 120.

Effective Microorganisms are Probiotic and not a fertiliser, disinfectant or antibiotic. EM is not a medicine, nor is it genetically modified or pathogenic.

Please use the links above to discover more about the amazing properties and benefits of using EM.

N.B. EM consists of living organisms, so do not use with chemicals such as pesticides, disinfectants, antibacterial agents and fungicides, as as these will the render EM ineffective. When diluting either EM or EM Active with water, you should use either rainwater, springwater or tap water that has been allowed to stand for at least 24hrs - to allow the chlorine to evaporate. Tap water that contains chlorine is harmful to EM's.
